What is an Remote Online Notarization (RON)

Remote Online Notarization allows your documents to be notarized securely online using live video no travel required. If you are unable to meet in person or need a fast, convenient solution, Remote Online Notarization may be the right option.

As a commissioned Michigan Notary Public authorized to perform Remote Online Notarizations, I can notarize eligible documents for signers who are physically located anywhere, as long as the notarization complies with Michigan law and the receiving agency accepts remote notarization.

All Remote Online Notarizations are completed through a secure, state-approved platform (BlueNotary) that verifies identity, records the session, and provides a tamper-evident notarized document upon completion.

Remote notarization is commonly used for power of attorney documents, affidavits, sworn statements, business forms, consent documents, and other general notarial acts that do not require in-person witnessing under specific laws.

Is Remote Online Notarization Right for You?

Remote Online Notarization may be a good fit if you need a document notarized quickly, are located outside of Michigan, are unable to meet in person, or prefer a fully online process.

Some documents may still require in-person notarization. If you are unsure whether your document qualifies, you can contact me before booking to confirm eligibility.

What You Need for a Remote Online Notarization

To complete a Remote Online Notarization, each signer must have a stable internet connection, a computer, tablet, or smartphone with a camera and microphone, and a valid government-issued photo ID.

Each signer must complete their own identity verification, even if multiple signers are using the same device or are in the same location.

How the Remote Online Notarization Process Works

Once your appointment is scheduled, you will receive a secure email link to upload your document and join the live notarization session through BlueNotary. At the start of the session, your identity will be verified through credential analysis and knowledge based authentication questions. These steps are required by law and cannot be bypassed. After identity verification, you will appear on live video with the notary. You will confirm your willingness to sign and acknowledge or swear to the contents of the document if required. You will then sign electronically, and the notary will complete the notarization using an electronic seal and digital certificate. After the session, you will receive a finalized notarized document.

Important Requirements & Disclosures

All signers must personally appear on live video during the session.

Valid photo identification is required and must match the signer appearing on camera.

If identity verification fails or the signer and ID do not match, the session must be ended and cannot proceed.

Remote Online Notarization sessions are recorded and securely stored in compliance with Michigan law.

Remote notarization acceptance varies by agency, country, or receiving organization. It is the signer’s responsibility to confirm acceptance before scheduling.

Pricing & Scheduling

Remote Online Notarization appointments are scheduled in advance and require payment before the session begins.

Same-day and after-hours appointments may be available depending on availability.

If a session cannot be completed due to identity verification failure, technology issues, or document ineligibility, fees may still apply.
